​The Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) wishes to inform the public that due to Rand Water infrastructure maintenance, Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Ekurhuleni district is experiencing water supply interruptions since yesterday. 

The City of Ekurhuleni dispatched three water tankers to the hospital yesterday (Tuesday, 16 July 2024) afternoon to minimise the impact on services, however, this is inadequate to sustain services. 

The facility management continues to engage relevant stakeholders to put contingency measures in place as the hospital relies on constant supply of water from the relevant authorities to carry out with the provision of health services. 

The Department would like to apologise to patients and the public for the inconvenience that has been caused by the water challenge experienced by the water utility.
