Gauteng CoGTA appeals to the public to donate clothes and dignity packs to alleviate the plight of flood victims in the province

Gauteng CoGTA MEC Lebogang Maile is making an appeal to the Gauteng communities to assist with donations to assist the multiple victims and households affected by the floods across the province.  Current reports indicate that the City of Tshwane is the worst affected, as at 10 December 2019 in the city approximately 1300 people, mostly residing in informal settlements have been displaced and 2 fatalities recorded.

The Disaster Management and Emergency personnel teams are working tirelessly to render the necessary relief and assistance to the effected communities. Additional provisions such as cloths, food parcels, dignity packs and blankets are urgently needed to assist these efforts.

Relief Aid donations can be dropped off at the following points:

1)    The Sandton Fire station

2)    The Stanza Bopape Community Development Centre, 02 Shilovhane Street, Stanza Bopape, Pretoria

3)    Mamelodi Baptist Church, Kgomane Ave, Naledi, Pretoria

MEC Maile urged residents to consider safety first and not to take unnecessary risks that can endanger lives and property.
