The Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla with Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will lead a World Diabetes Day commemorative event today, 14 November in Hammanskraal. 

World Diabetes Day is an annual global campaign dedicated to raising awareness about diabetes mellitus. This year’s theme: “Diabetes and Wellbeing,” focuses on raising awareness around diabetes and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs), supporting healthier lifestyle choices and encouraging early screening to prevent severe health complications. 

During the event, community members will receive educational information, free health screening services in an effort to reduce the prevalence of NCDs in Gauteng and beyond.
