The Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will this morning (Friday, 16 August) pay tribute to women in the emergency medical services (EMS) as part of a month-long programme to honour and acknowledge the strides made by women in health.
Women have risen to become active agents of change and social transformation, breaking barriers that once seemed impossible to break especially in sectors that traditionally were male dominated such as EMS.
Today the Gauteng EMS has many women in leadership roles including 22 shift leaders and 10 station managers across Operations and the Emergency Communication Centre.
The EMS Women’s Day Seminar is being held in line with the theme for Women’s Month of “Celebrating 30 Years of Democracy Towards Women’s Development”.
Members of the media are invited as follows:
Date: Friday, 16 August 2024
Time: 10:00am Location: Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Chris Hani Road, Soweto (Recreational Hall, enter through St John’s entrance)
