​In an effort to raise awareness about cancer and highlight the notable achievements in the screening, treatment and cure of cancer, the MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will join the Pink-Drive to commemorate World Cancer Day in Tshwane on Tuesday, 06 February 2024. 

The Gauteng Department of Health’s commitment to broadening access and improving cancer screening and treatment services in the province continues to save lives. Together working with partners such as the Pink-Drive and other public and private sector partners, the department has been able to expand its service footprint and ensure that the gap is closed in cancer prevention and care. 

MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko together with Pink-Drive’s Noelene Kotschan will use this occasion to also emphasise the fact that “early detection and management of any cancer is vital for treatment and chances of achieving cure”. 

 World Cancer Day is officially observed on 04 February every year as part of efforts to raise awareness about cancer and to encourage prevention, early detection and treatment of the disease.
