As
part of October Transport Month activities, Gauteng MEC for Public Transport
and Roads Infrastructure, Jacob Mamabolo, will on Monday, 05 October 2020,
officially open the rehabilitated Snake Road (R23) in Benoni, City of
Ekurhuleni. 
MEC Mamabolo
will officially reopen the road together with Ekurhuleni MMC
for Infrastructure Services Cllr Masele Madihlaba.
Rehabilitations
to the value of R17 million resumed in February 2020 following the development
of a sinkhole along the road. 
Snake
Road is a major arterial and local distributor route linking the N12 freeway
and northern and southern areas of Benoni to the N17.
Furthermore,it
links various businesses and communities with the Benoni CBD, thus playing an
important role in the local and provincial economy.  
Road
maintenance projects are undertaken in line with the Gauteng Provincial
Government’s commitment to delivering a world-class road infrastructure that
promotes Smart Mobility that supports economic growth.
