​25-year-old Rofhiwa Mulaudzi says she could not miss out on the opportunity offered by the Beauty Hub Academy through the Gauteng Department of Social Development to be one of the product manufacturing facilitators.
Speaking during the hair and beauty talent show organized by Beauty Hub Academy in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Social Development, L’Oreal South Africa, and other stakeholders, Mulaudzi said she was proud of her students who were taking their studies serious.

Mulaudzi is a facilitator employed by the Beauty Hub Academy where she teaches students on how to make cosmetics using natural ingredients made from plants which are not harmful, as everything used is organic.

She studied Cosmetic Formulation Course, learning how to make her cosmetics from scratch, and the knowledge behind the products and formulations for different skin types.

Mulaudzi is originally from Venda in Limpopo, and she says one day she would love to see herself owning a factory manufacturing cosmetics, just like Portia M, a trending cosmetic brand started by a South African woman called Portia Mngomezulu.

“Whatever we have displayed on the tables is my work which I am proud off . My products are body lotions, hand creams, bath salts, oils, scented candles,” says Mulaudzi.

“I have been teaching students cosmetics since I joined the academy last year late in September. The students will complete their course this year in April. Most of them come from disadvantaged backgrounds. I make sure that I use affordable equipment for them to start their businesses. In our next intake, we will be enrolling forty (40) students on a one-year course,” she said.

Despite the shortage of employment in the country Mulaudzi says she is hoping to place most of her students for internship programme with one of the schools where she is volunteering as a teacher on weekends.

Her advice to youth who are doing nothing sitting at home, Mulaudzi says this is a good course to step into, fortunately the government is funding the Beauty Hub Academy where they receive stipend, food, and transport money.

“I would also like to thank the Director from the Gauteng Department of Social Development Ms. Mbali Ndlovu for their support. Looking her one could see that she understands the challenges faced by a black child, “ Mulaudzi says.
