Premier David Makhura on Tuesday visited the first of its kind, eco-friendly Nooitgedacht Country Gardens Estate in Krugersdorp.
The estate is one of Gauteng Department of Human Settlements' appointed areas for economic growth.
Country Gardens Estate welcomes you to the new age of building design and structure inspired by the Netherlands Development Group, MAXXLIVING.
The developers are promoting a greener way of life by moving completely off the grid and introducing eco-friendly energy methods to sustain a well-maintained estate.
"This is game-changing as the first development built completely out of wood and erected in a modular fashion on site.
"These are meant to solve the most common problems, like power outages. The optional solar panels can provide electricity for the entire home for the whole day," said Premier Makhura.
The development uses the Hydroloop recycling unit, a water-saving machine that recycles water in the home three times before it is expelled, reducing the water consumption by two thirds.
With 240 units sold already, the site plan of the estate has been laid out to use the natural gradient of the land to maximize the views of the beautiful valley and its sunsets.
The project has already created close to 100 jobs and is expected to create over 1 000 jobs in the future.
Phase 2 and 3 of the development is scheduled to commence near the end of 2021.
