Government will tomorrow, hit the streets of Kagiso, Mogale City to encourage the community to get vaccinated.

The team, led by Deputy President Mabuza and members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on COVID-19 vaccines, Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, Gauteng MEC for Health, Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi, West Rand District Municipality Mayor, Dennis Sello will assess the municipality's vaccines rollout programme.

The West Rand District Municipality is the lowest-performing sub-district, with only 8% of the total population vaccinated.

The IMC has identified three provinces falling short of their set targets to reach population immunity, including Gauteng Province.

The IMC then resolved to visit parts of the country experiencing challenges and identify areas of improvement.

The IMC on COVID-19 vaccines was established by President Ramaphosa to provide overall political oversight of the vaccination programme including its acquisition, distribution and rollout.

The committee is responsible for the effective collaboration between national, provincial and local governments in the management, distribution and rollout of Covid-19 vaccines towards population immunity.
