Integrated Patient Queue Management System - 13 April 2025

Department of Health 2025/04/14 - 22:00

Furthermore, the Department is piloting an Integrated Patient Queue Management System to reduce waiting times, which has already shown success at Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital and is currently being rolled out to the pharmacy section at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. The system not only tracks waiting times and patient flow but also supports mobile check-ins, online bookings, and accessibility features for patients with mobility or language challenges.

"These systems are ushering in a new era of patient-cantered care," said MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko. "Patients now experience shorter queues, more transparency, and better time management. This is how we restore dignity in public healthcare."

The Department has adopted a phased and data-driven approach, ensuring proper evaluation and rollout to other hospitals in the 2025/26 and 2026/27 financial years. The broader digitization project will not only reduce administrative burdens but also create space, reduce errors, and strengthen service delivery throughout the province.
