The Gauteng Provincial Government remains committed to strengthening institutional transparency, accountability and ensuring that institutions in the province meet their targets.

Over the years, Premier David Makhura has implemented preventative measures to eliminate any possible corrupt practices before they arise.

These include Ethics management compliance, submission of financial disclosures, vetting of Senior Management Service (SMS) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) officials, fraud risk management compliance, compulsory ethics online training programme for all officials from the Assistant Director level upwards.

The province introduced the Gauteng Municipal Integrity Project (GMIP) which seeks to build capacity in the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) to support municipalities in improving the ethical culture.

Whistleblowing and rolling out the open tender and integrity management systems in all municipalities to improve the ethical environment are also being introduced.

Furthermore, the province is also strengthening accountability and oversight over state-owned entities with management and Boards that adhere to good corporate governance.

The Provincial Forensic Audit continues to track the implementation of recommendations quarterly and it also assists departments with opening criminal cases on matters investigated internally and externally. END
