Over 180 arrested in Kagiso during Operation Okae Molao- 08 October 2021

Over 180 suspects were arrested during Operation Okae Molao, in Kagiso, West Rand on Thursday.

The suspects face various charges, including possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of drugs, stolen properties, illegal mining and contravening the Immigration Act.

Traffic fines valued at R96 350 were issued, five firearms and two unroadworthy vehicles were impounded. In addition, the officials confiscated illegal mining tools- phenduka, shovels and spades. 

Gauteng police commissioner, Elias Mawela says he's happy with how things went.

Mawela emphasised that, although the police have their hands full, they will continue to ensure that criminals are brought to the book. 

As part of the operation, the social crime prevention and stakeholders took to the streets of Mnandini and Tshepisong to educate about sexual offences, domestic violence, rapes and robberies.
