Munsieville Community Benefits From Service Blitz and Ke Moja Friday

Department of Social Development 2025/03/14 - 22:00

The Gauteng Department of Social Development, together with various government Departments and stakeholders, hosted a Service Blitz and Ke Moja Friday at Munsieville Sports Complex in the Western Corridor last Friday, 07 March 2025.

The initiative aimed to bring essential government services closer to the people, offering residents direct access to information, support, and one-on-one engagement with officials.

Residents from across Munsieville and surrounding areas gathered at the venue, eager to benefit from the range of services available.

For many, the event made government services more accessible than ever.

Tshepang Tlale, a local resident, expressed her relief at finally being able to reapply for her child’s birth certificate and apply for a smart ID card through the Home Affairs mobile truck, which was also rendering much needed services.

“Visiting Home Affairs offices was always a challenge due to transport costs and long queues. With a small baby at home, I struggled to find the time. Now, I can apply for a child support grant for my nine-month-old baby,” she said.

Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, shared how the event gave him hope in his fight to help his nephew overcome drug addiction.

“My nephew has been missing school and using drugs. I was losing hope until I visited the Social Development stall, where he was placed on a waiting list for assistance. I am grateful as I previously felt like I was failing him,” he said.

The event also saw participation from key Departments such as Health and Home Affairs, ensuring that community members could access services ranging from health screenings to social support.

Programme coordinator Kgomotso Phofa highlighted the importance of stakeholder collaboration in making the event a success.

“Different stakeholders came together to serve the people of Munsieville, ensuring that they received essential services and support.”

Through initiatives like Service Blitz and Ke Moja Friday, the Gauteng Department of Social Development continues to bridge the gap between communities and government services, making life-changing assistance more accessible and impactful.
