It was a pomp festivity at the Turffontein Race Course during the celebration of World Social Work Day by the Gauteng Department of Social Development Joburg Region.
Everyone was wearing black and yellow, which was the theme for the day.
Social Workers danced to all types of music and for a day they forgot about the stress which comes with the job.
The Aquanaut Hall on the third floor was packed with jubilant Social Workers.
The programme Director, Brenda Maluleke, said "World Social Work Day made me realize how important our profession is to the communities we serve".
The department's Wellness Programme (EAP) Assistant Director, Lood Hanekom said the department is offering services to officials to deal with stress and burnout in the work place.
"I would like to encourage my colleagues to make sure that if they are going through difficult times such as stress at work, abuse in a marriage or relationships, please bring your partner to get counselling in order for you to render services to your communities with ease" said Hanekom.
The event was also graced by the Regional Director, Nonhlanhla Mthimkhulu who encouraged the Social Workers to grow in their career and create a space where they can work as a team.
