The Gauteng Provincial Government is set to release to the public the findings of the Commission of Inquiry into Taxi Violence.
The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 11 February 2021 at the Emoyeni Conference Centre in Johannesburg.
Established in 2019 by Premier David Makhura, the Commission was tasked with investigating the underlying causes of taxi violence, make findings and recommendations.
Its establishment followed a resolution taken by Gauteng's major taxi associations - the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) and the National Taxi Alliance (GNTA) at the 2019 Provincial Taxi Summit in the Sedibeng District Municipality.
Amongst the resolutions of the Summit were that a retired judge be appointed to investigate taxi violence and its underlying causes
