On Saturday night MEC for Health Dr Bandile Masuku rolled up his sleeves and spent the night with Emergency Medical Services night shift crew, based at Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital, attending to calls as part of his once a month voluntary clinical work initiative.
Together with the EMS crew, MEC Masuku attended to various distressed calls and other emergency related activities such as home baby delivery, an assault case and motor accident scene amongst others.
Dr Masuku who was accompanied by the provincial head of EMS Arnold Malotana had an opportunity to experience first-hand the work of EMS and the challenges.
MEC Masuku shared his time with EMS crew with his followers on Twitter:
“We are at the Dr Yusuf Dadoo EMS Base we are joining the Gauteng EMS night shift as part of our once a month voluntary clinical work. We are committed to improving staff morale our visit this evening forms part efforts to support frontline staff. We are here all night.”

Some of MEC’s Masuku followers were moved by the initiative and as result they promised to in join on voluntary basis.
