The frail at Zanele Mbeki Frail Care Centre in Dunnottar, Ekurhuleni were treated to music and gifts by the learners from neighbouring school on Valentine’s Day.
Learners from Hanniel Primary visited the centre, where they serenaded the frail with music and handed red roses as a symbol of love.
Valentine’s Day is celebrated annually on February 14 to show love to the next person, mostly couples to spend it together. It is traditionally associated with red hearts, romance, flowers, and the exchange of gifts to express love.
Speaking to Weekly Bulletin on Friday, Social Worker, Lerato Thaba, said the day was to show love to the residents so that they are reminded that they are special. “We are grateful to host the kids from Hanniel Primary School who came in numbers and showed love to our residents,” said Thaba.
Social Work Supervisor, Tsakani Ngobeni said she was happy to see the residents dancing with the kids. “It is an expression of love and appreciation,” added Ngobeni.
