The Gauteng Department of Education has urged parents and guardians who have not received school placement offers for Grades 1 and 8 to be patient.
The department said the 2022 academic year placement period started on 15 October and will end on 30 November 2021.
"We urge parents, especially those who receive a placement via SMS to log on to www.gdeadmissions.gov.za and check the status of their applications and offer(s) if available.
"Offers may be accepted provisionally, while further offers are awaited or accepted as final. Once an offer is accepted as final, no further offers will be made," said Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
Parents are advised to accept each offer within 7 days or will forfeit the offer. The latest offer accepted will cancel all previous offers.
In the event a parent or guardian may have forgotten or lost their credentials, they must click on "Forgot Password" on the landing page and follow the prompts to regain access to the system or call 0800 000 789 for assistance.
The department identified at least 10 high-pressure schools during the application period with some schools receiving more applications than what they could accommodate.
"The department is committed to assisting schools at high-pressure areas to build more classrooms to accommodate more learners for future admissions," said MEC Lesufi.
Parents can follow the GDE's official digital platforms to get all the latest information on the 2022 online admissions and placement processes and more.
