On Thursday, 8 August 2024, the Gauteng Department of e-Government MEC, Bonginkosi Dhlamini addressed Gauteng residents during an activation event at Birch Acres Mall in Tembisa, urging them to download the e-Panic Button app to enhance their safety.

Interacting with a diverse crowd of shoppers and community members, MEC Dhlamini emphasised the critical role of the app in providing immediate access to emergency services. He highlighted the importance of the e-Panic Button app as a vital tool for personal protection, particularly in today's increasingly unpredictable environment.

The activation at Birch Acres Mall was part of a broader campaign across Gauteng to raise awareness about the e-Panic Button app, which allows users to send an instant alert to emergency services with just one tap. This alert shares the user's location, enabling a rapid response from authorities.

MEC Dhlamini underscored the significance of the app, especially in high-density areas like Tembisa, where swift action is crucial in preventing and responding to incidents. The officials deployed also explained how the app ensures that help is always within reach during critical moments.

MEC Dhlamini also called on community leaders, local businesses, and residents in Tembisa to support the safety initiative by downloading the app and assisting others in doing the same.

He stressed that collective action could significantly enhance security throughout the province. By embracing this technology, the community can work together to create safer environments, with the e-Panic Button app playing a key role in safeguarding the well-being of everyone in Gauteng.
