The Tambo Memorial Hospital has recently upgraded its Radiology services by adding two new fully digital X-ray machines. The Radspeed Pro Mc (65kw) and the Fujifilm FDR Smart FGX-685 are designed to automatically adjust settings, providing clearer and more accurate imaging, which leads to better diagnosis and appropriate treatment for patients.
The new X-ray machines offer advanced features that are already helping improve the efficiency of the hospital's radiology department. With ceiling-mounted tubes and detectors that track patients during the scan, the process becomes smoother and faster. These machines replace older models, providing better technology that improves patient care and reduces waiting times.
One of the biggest improvements is that these machines reduce the amount of X-ray exposure to patients, making the procedure safer and more comfortable. The experience is less stressful for patients, and the new machines also make it easier for Radiographers to perform the scans efficiently.
Sabelo Gwala, a 29-year-old patient who hurt his hand while working on his car shared a few comments after experiencing the machines first hand. "The process was very quick and comfortable, it only took about 10 minutes and another 10 minutes to get the images. I was able to go back to the Doctor for my report," he said. This reflects the improvements in speed and reduced waiting times that the new equipment brings.
The advanced image processing technology in these machines automatically detects key areas and adjusts settings to ensure each image is clear and accurate every time. This makes the job easier for Radiographers and speeds up the diagnosis process, allowing Doctors to make quicker decisions.
"The new machines not only provide digital images but also offer low radiation exposure and outstanding image quality. They are user-friendly and provide a much better experience for both patients and healthcare providers," said Gladys Setou, a Radiographer at Tambo Memorial Hospital.
The machines come with additional features, such as a tilting bucky stand that makes it easy to adjust the angle of the bucky table for different exams. The support also ensures the patient's safety by protecting them if they suddenly move and when they sit up unexpectedly after the exam.
