The Gauteng Provincial Government hosted Tshepo 1 Million activation at Khutsong Extension 3 Sports Grounds in Merafong Area, West Rand last week Thursday.
Tshepo 1 Million is the Gauteng Government initiative aimed at offering young people employment and economic opportunities from various stakeholders.Assisting young people with information during the event was 25 years old Thobani Mkhize from Bambisandla-Sam School of Excellence. He is one of the beneficiaries at the centre funded by the Gauteng Department of Social Development. He said, “I am grateful that Bambisandla-Sam is changing many lives. I had never thought that one day I can access Artisan Chef Skill and all thanks to the Department of Social Development for funding the initiative. I have been with the centre for 3 years now, working as an Assistant Chef. I am enjoying it and already I see myself establishing my own restaurant. I would like to become an employer soon. I would like to encourage my peers to grab opportunities offered through this initiative (Tshepo 1Million) by our government”, said Mkhize.23-years-old Asanda Bam was given hope by the initiative. Bam matriculated four years ago and did not have money to further her studies. Bam lost hope, thinking that opportunities are meant for those who have money. But today her mindset was changed by the opportunities brought to communities by Gauteng Government.“I am happy with the information I got from the government and various stakeholders, especially skills development centres. I am grateful for such initiatives”, said Bam.Tshepo 1 Million’s activation continues across all the regions in Gauteng.
