Anti-substance abuse documentary- KICK IT returns for season 2- 06 September 2021

The second season of the documentary television series "KICK IT" returns on SABC 1 at 16:30 today.

 The documentary is expected to depict health and social issues into real-life stories for the millions of people who have grown to trust the powerful messages of this very popular programme.

The 13-part television series will be presented by Israel Matseke, one of the ambassadors of the Gauteng City-Region (GCR) Social Movement Against Drugs and Substance Abuse. 

Gauteng MEC for Social Development, MEC Morakane Mosupyoe has described the series as a flagship television show, that will give more insight into the world of substance abuse amongst young people. 

Mosupyoe believes this is one of govenrment's far-reaching milestones to raise awareness about substance abuse among young people.

"The second season of 'Kick It' sets out to capture the vast dynamics of substance use disorder in families, workplaces and communities. The series will reflect individual stories of hope and triumph, showcasing individuals who had substance used disorders and have undergone treatment and were reintegrated into their families and communities."

The first season of Kick It won a South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) award in 2019 for "Best Factual / Educational Programme.

"We believe this is one of our far-reaching milestones to raise awareness about substance abuse among young people," says MEC Mosupyoe.

The department of social development has implemented the Gauteng City-Region (GCR) Anti-Substance Abuse Social Movement campaign to strengthen interventions to curb the scourge of substance abuse in the Province.​
