Gender Indaba Aims to Enhance Gender Relations and Promote Equality Among e-Gov Employees

Department of e-Government 2024/10/10 - 22:00

The Department of e-Government hosted its annual Gender Indaba, a significant event aimed at fostering dialogue on gender equality, workplace equity, and staff morale. Targeted at Assistant Directors, Deputy Directors, and Senior Managers, the Indaba provides a platform for collaborative discussions on these critical issues, with a special focus on addressing the equity mandate within the department.

In her keynote address, Deputy Director-General Phelokazi Ntanjana emphasized the importance of taking gender equality seriously in the workplace. "The implementation and practice of gender equality in our workplace mirrors the culture, practices, and values of our organization. Gender equality speaks directly to the issue of human resources, and we cannot have a successful organization without a vibrant and healthy labor force," said Ntanjana.

The Indaba is a vital step towards advancing gender equality in the workplace and tackling gender-based violence, reflecting the department’s commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all employees.
In addition, the programme addressed the issue of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the workplace, including workplace bullying, which remains a persistent issue. Through these conversations, the department hopes to create an environment of unity, growth, and mutual respect.
This year’s Gender Indaba is not just a conversation but a call to action. It serves as a reminder of the crucial role both men and women play in driving the department's mission to create a gender-equal workplace.
As the Department of e-Government continues to promote gender equality, resilience, and inclusivity, this Gender Indaba represents a step forward in transforming the workplace into a space where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered.
