MEC Masuku spent his 67 minutes for Mandela Day in West Rand

In celebration of 2019 Nelson Mandela Day, the Gauteng MEC for Health, Dr Bandile Masuku together with Mogale City Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr Naga Lipudi spent their day at Dr Yusuf Dadoo District Hospital and Kagiso Hostel.

At the hospital, the MEC and Mayor were serving food to some patients as well as distributing toiletries to others.

Other activities included:  cleaning of the linen room; washing of patients’ lockers and bedsides as well as spoiling children with gifts by the South African Police Services Krugersdorp Flying Squad.

MEC Masuku and Mayor Lipudi continued to clean at Kagiso Hostel where various health promotion services were also provided to hostel dwellers including eye screening; HIV testing; TB screening; Dental services; hand hygiene as well as education on environmental health.

Ten patients who were at the gynaecological section at Carletonville Hospital were examined by the MEC.  This was his last activity for the day.

The MEC expressed gratitude to all those whose efforts brought a smile to patients in Gauteng Health facilities.

““Let’s make every day ‘a Mandela Day’ and continuously bring a smile to the vulnerable in our society,” concluded MEC Masuku.
