Department’s Victor Seshoka receives an award

An official from the Gauteng Department of Social Development has received the African Honeer Authors award.

41-year-old Victor Supulugane Seshoka is a Community Development Practitioner in the department's Tshwane Region and a writer.

He has several books published in his name and continue to inspire the young people. Last year, he was nominated along with the Chief Justice and Minister of Health for their good work. He is also a founder of a book club called 30 Book Readers 2021 which has more than one thousand members, according to Seshoka.

Seshoka received the award after he was nominated by authors as well as the general public and was declared a winner at a virtual ceremony last week. He was handed over his trophy at a drive-through.

When asked how he feels about the award? He said: "I feel elated by the award as a recognition of my writings and since the pandemic started, I have managed to complete my Masters of Philosophy in Business Leadership and Management and the full dissertation achieved with Cum Laude (Title: The effectiveness of the NPO Monitoring Systems in the City of Tshwane).

Seshoka said he has read twenty-five (25) books since the beginning of the year and hope to exceed his target of reading 30 books per year.

When asked how he could encourage colleagues to improve their lives, Seshoka said they should remember that "You are a success when you have made friends with your past and you are focused on the present while optimistic about your future".

Seshoka is married to Professor Keaobaka Omphile Precious Seshoka and they are blessed with two sons and a daughter.

"In five years', time I see myself either leading one of the academic institutions, as a researcher and maybe God willing a CEO, or a Head of Department of one of the government Departments. On top of that having achieved a lot in my writings, having grown my education foundation as one of the best NPOs in the SADC Regions, I also want to travel Africa and inspire the young people of our beloved continent".

In his spare time, he empowers the youth with writing skills through his foundation Kgalalelo Education Foundation, they write books, conduct research and review books on the various radio stations.

"I am also working on my newly established Online Radio station called Inspiration Radio which is aimed at bringing inspiration and hope to the global community".
