Heritage day is celebrated every year on the 24 September in recognising and celebrating our roots and the diverse cultures. The staff at Rahima Moosa Mother and Child hospital commemorated the day by hosting an event where different cultural groups came together, unified and unique in their heritage and contributed to the South African history.
During the event diverse culture performed their traditional dances and a celebration of a cookout of different traditional foods was prepared and judged during the competition. Unity
Dr Chriselda Kananda was one of the judges and a guest speaker who encouraged everyone to continue living heritage as it plays a huge role in promoting cultural diversity, social cohesion and reconciliation. During the performances the Ndebele tribe took the first prize, 2 place was the Batswana group and 3 place was won by the Xhosa group. All cultural groups were appreciated for taking part in the competition and everyone was delighted to be part of the celebration
