In an effort to vaccinate as many people as possible in the province, the Gauteng Provincial Government and social partners continue with the 'Jabs on the Job' campaign aimed at improving access to vaccines for employees, contractors and surrounding communities.

The vaccination drive is targeting workplaces and many employers have partnered with government and are setting up vaccination sites at their business premises to ensure that the vaccination programme is easily accessible to employees.

The government also continues to expand the vaccination programme targeting school communities starting with areas with low vaccine uptake.

The programme caters for learners aged 12 years and older, their family members, school staff and community members that are not yet vaccinated.

The school communities' vaccination programme will also help improve access to healthcare by using schools as vaccination sites.

Mobile vaccination teams have been allocated to schools across all five districts in the province. Parents, caregivers and legal guardians are encouraged to have open discussions with their children about the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine to help them make informed health choices.

The Gauteng Provincial Government calls on employers and any institution that would like their employees to get the jab to forward their requests to popupsite@gauteng.gov.za or call the Gauteng Hotline on: 0800 22 88 27. Vaccination education will also be provided.

As at 6 March 2022, over 9 million vaccines have been administered, with 5.4 million people receiving one dose of either J&J or Pfizer and 4.5 million people have been fully vaccinated in Gauteng.
