Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has warned sternly against residents attacking Gauteng Traffic Wardens.

This warning comes after a video surfaced on social media Monday, 9 September 2024, showing Gauteng Traffic Wardens in uniform being assaulted by community members in Reiger Park, Ekurhuleni.

"This incident is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Gauteng. We call on law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators of this violence and anarchy to justice.

"There can never be a no-go area for law enforcers while carrying out their responsibilities in our province," said Premier Lesufi.

The Gauteng Premier emphasised the need to respect law enforcement. Gauteng Traffic Wardens assist Gauteng's Police in responding to crimes committed, risking their lives on a daily basis to protect communities from criminal elements.

Gauteng Traffic Wardens are supervised by the South African Police Services (SAPS), Gauteng Traffic, and Metro Police Departments.

"These senseless attacks must be condemned and stopped. We call on all community members to work with us, not against us, to fight crime in the province," added Premier Lesufi.
