The Making Us Youth Organization (MUYO) which is funded by the Gauteng Department of Social Development in Kagiso Extension 12 in the West Rand is determined to eradicate poverty across the region.

MUYO is accredited to provide Youth Development Programmes. It was founded by Ronny Tshabalala, Mosimanegape Mampe and Solomon Segone 9 years ago.

Tshabalala, co-founder and centre manager, explained how the NPO makes a difference in society. He said the centre has linked more beneficiaries with the employers locally following completion of training offered. The centre offers Life Skills Training, Business Skills, Technical Training, Social Change and Entrepreneurship and beneficiaries also have access to free wi-fi at the centre.

Tshabalala added that since they partnered with the Gauteng Department of Social Development 6 years ago, they have changed many lives drastically around Kagiso and its surroundings. They assist young people with jobs, leadership skills and bursary research and offers space for beneficiaries to type their CVs. He further stated that beneficiaries are profiled to determine their needs, and some are directed to life skills, business, and different fields of work.

Others come already having certain skills and they are linked with employers. He also indicated that they also assist fellow youth to establish their own organizations like Ithemba Labantu in Merafong. and they are making a difference in Merafong closing the unemployment gap.

We are grateful to the Gauteng Department of Social Development for the assistance they offered to us. We are still going strong because of them. We are happy with the progress me made since the department started to fund us. The department did not only assist our organisation with funding, but they also capacitated us with more knowledge to run our organisation. Furthermore, we would like to expand into other business ventures to ensure the youth and broader community gain access to economic opportunities through our centre. I would like to encourage youth to come and access our services, they will gain a lot” said Tshabalala.
