Department of Social Development 2019/09/22 - 22:00

The Gauteng Department of Social Development remains committed to working with residents of Ivory Park in Tembisa to address challenges in their communities and to accelerate service delivery to the people.

This was evident during the multi-disciplinary team approach service delivery blitz held at Ivory Park North Hall, last week Wednesday. Various government institutions such as SASSA, Home Affairs, NDA NYDA have been invited to offer the community governmental services.

According to the Social Worker Moloko Molepo from Johannesburg region said the aim of the blitz was to bring Institutions of government and Non-Profit Organisation to the people for easy access with the goal of improving their livelihoods.

"This is largely thanks to a multi-disciplinary team approach that entails a stakeholder engagement process, awareness, educational campaigns that intensifies acceleration of service delivery to the poor" she added.

One resident Thabang Lamola (20) from Tembisa said he appreciate that government is able to reach out people through service blitz.

"This is a good gesture from government, I hope it won't end here in Tembisa because one of the major challenges that we face as young people is lack of information. I hope this will gradually address socioeconomic issues in our area."
