Participants took to the stage to show-case their different God-given talents as part of the annual Tshwane Regional Disability Eisteddfod Talent Show hosted at Stuurman Community Hall.
The talent show event by the Gauteng Department of Social Development Tshwane Region, had participants from disability organizations in the region competing in singing, dancing in tradition and modern, modelling, poetry and solo singing, under the theme, "Taking Gauteng City Region Forward #Real Rights".
The event was aimed at creating awareness of the capabilities and contributions of Persons with Disabilities showcasing their talents through a program that is combating stereotypes, prejudices and harmful practices relating to Persons with Disabilities in all areas of life, fostering respect for the rights and dignity of Persons with Disabilities and affording them a fun and interactive day.
Social Worker Manager Matshipi Thole encouraged the participants to give their best so that they can outclass their competitors and shine as last year. She said, "As a region, we performed well last year and this season we should continue with our winning streak".
The Provincial Disability Eisteddford program will be hosted in October during the Social Development Month which is aimed at promoting developmental welfare and social security services as well as care and support for Children, Older Persons and Persons with Disabilities. Partaking organizations were Tshwane Empowerment, Department-run Itereleng Workshop for the Blind, Irene Home, Fanang Diatla, Xihlovo, Lebuwe, Kungwini, Phuthanamagole, Emellang, Oakgona and Kgatelopele.
