In the spirit of Valentine's Day, senior managers at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital swopped their business suits and laptops for work overalls and brooms last week Friday.
In line with the slogan; "For these few hours, leave the dust to us!" the supervisors embarked on a cleaning campaign in various wards as a gesture of gratitude for the hospital's cleaning staff.
On her knees, scrubbing the female toilets, hospital CEO Gladys Bogoshi said: "As managers, we decided to make this day extra special by spreading love to our cleaning personnel by giving them a break today and performing the day to day operations."
"Often, cleaners go underappreciated, today is acknowledgement of their efforts merely to show that they are immensely appreciated," the CEO stated.
For elated Maternity Admissions ward cleaner, Hlomela Mgolodelwa, the day was more than warranted and went greatly appreciated.
"Often, our work is viewed as somewhat insignificant and easy to do. It takes a lot of sweat and determination to leave a ward as busy as the Maternity Admission wards spotless on a daily basis," said Mgolodelwa.
"Never before, in the 13 years that I have worked here, have I ever felt so valued. It pleases me to know that my efforts are appreciated. Thank you to the managers!"
