The water utility, Rand Water has urged Gauteng residents to use water sparingly.

The water utility has issued a 20% water restriction notice to municipalities across Gauteng citing severe pressure and high demand on its network.

These restrictions would affect at least 36 reservoirs in Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane.

Furthermore, Rand Water had a power supply issue at their Zuikerbosh purification works last week which negatively impacted their Palmiet pumping system that feeds their Meyers Hill reservoir which supplies our South Hills tower.

The reservoir is currently below the threshold at which we can pump into the tower which means the tower area is currently without water supply.

Areas like Linmeyer, South Hills, Risana, The Hill and surrounding areas will be affected. A list of water tankers will be published on our website and social media platforms as and when they are dispatched.

Residents are encouraged to subscribe to the Johannesburg water website, to receive SMS notification service for alerts on planned or unplanned service interruptions.
