​The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport, in partnership with the provincial Department of Health, is taking its public transport vaccination drive to Fochville in the Merafong Local Municipality - West Rand District Municipality. The activation is scheduled for Friday, 19 November 2021.  
Forming part of days activities is the #RequestASlot drive - a campaign aimed at bringing to motorists a convenient process to secure booking slots for renewal of their driver's licence cards.
Throughout the festive season period, the Department is collaborating with various stakeholders raising awareness on the importance of observing COVID-19 regulations. This to ensure the transport sector does not contribute to the spread of the virus and road fatalities. 
South Africa has administered a record 24 million vaccine doses with Gauteng having contributed over 6.4 million.
Meanwhile, the City of Ekurhuleni has declared Pensioners Driver's Licences Renewal Wednesdays. Pensioners are allowed to walk in and get assistance to renew their driver's licence cardss at any of the City's testing centres. The initiative aims to eliminate difficulties pensioners face when in the process of license cards renewal.
