Generous donors heed the call to contribute towards fighting COVID-19

More than R6 million worth of donations have been received by the Gauteng Department of Health between 11 to 17 April 2020.

These R6 087 050 donations include: personal protective equipment, transportation, communication devices, consumables, bedding facilities, food items including those that have offered their expertise free of charge.

The Gauteng Department of Health wishes to extend its gratitude to all donors who have heeded the call by MEC, Dr Bandile Masuku to come on board and help in the fight against COVID-19. 

During the week in question, the donations were received from: Heineken; Metropolitan Life; Pink Drive; Class Three Medical Solution; SAME Foundation; Bonitas Medical Fund; Tshwane University of Technology, Bank of China; EOH Holdings as well as JTI Southern Africa.  The Department is also grateful for the support from many others who have donated in kind.  

Extending gratitude to all the donors, MEC Masuku said: "Once more we wish to thank all our partners for their generosity towards the fight to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Despite all the economic challenges you have committed to save the lives of our citizens through your contributions,

Their donations will make a meaningful contribution in the fight against COVID-19 and ensure we flatten the curve. In addition to that, their donations will make light of the work of the screening, testing and tracing teams who are crisscrossing the province in a massive campaign to reach high density and vulnerable communities" concluded MEC Masuku.
