Probably one of the oldest centres in the country, Abraham Kriel Bambanani Centre situated in Langlaagte, Johannesburg, has been consistent in its mandate to serve the vulnerable children, even during the Covid-19 pandemic which has engulfed the globe since beginning of the year.

The centre provides Residential Care Programs and Skills Development Courses for children in two campuses and satellite homes in the country. It also offers community care programs which are homebased care and drop-in-centres to about 2000 children affected by HIV in Soweto, Westbury, Yeoville and Langlaagte.

This non-profitmaking organization which strives on the best interest of children, teamwork and integrity as values was originally established in 1902 and operates at thirteen locations around Gauteng.

Speaking to the Bulletin last week, Hilda Du Point, centre Marketing Manager said, "Despite the hardship of corona virus we have been blessed by the Almighty to continue to offer our much required services to the needy with the assistance of the Gauteng Department of Social Development".

She said that during this period they have been able to also offer help to those around the children they service with the aid of other big companies such as Albany to distribute bread to the families.
