Acting MEC monitors COVID-19 Protocol adherence at Mamelodi

Gauteng Acting MEC for Health Jacob Mamabolo recently visited Denneboom Mall and Taxi Rank in Mamelodi, Tshwane to monitor the COVID-19 compliance amongst the shops and taxis operating there. ​

During the walkabout at the taxi rank and the Mall, MEC Mamabolo went to a couple of shops and taxis to check whether they follow necessary Covid-19 precaution measures such as wearing of masks and hands sanitizing methods. MEC also interacted with commuters and shoppers to listen to their views regarding Covid-19 protocol adherence by the two industries.

Speaking to shop owners and taxi drivers, MEC Mamabolo said  "Let's make sure that we take good care of our people, by following all precautionary measures so that we will be able to fight this pandemic that is claiming lives of our people. Mamelodi and Atteridgeville are now becoming areas of concern. The national Covid-19 infection numbers are declining, however, we still see numbers getting high in these areas. We want our community members to be vigilant".

At Mamelodi Hospital MEC Mamabolo handed over Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and also encouraged frontline workers and urging them to be safe and alert all the times "These PPE's are for all the frontline workers, we want you to stay safe at all times. Your lives are important to us as well as those of our community members" concluded MEC Mamabolo.

Mamelodi Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Naing Soe welcomed and appreciated the PPEs and assured MEC that it will be shared equally amongst staff members. "I am happy to receive this PPE's on behalf of my staff members, we will make sure that all our staff members are protected at all times; said Dr Soe.
