The South African Breweries (SAB) Rosslyn manufacturing plant in Tshwane is a hive of activity as people flock to vaccinate.
On Wednesday the SAB partnered with the Gauteng Department of Health to open a mobile pop-up vaccination centre in the facility.
The facility which will operate until Thursday vaccinated close to 500 people on the first day. The drive is targeting employees at the plant and neighbouring communities.
SAB's Regional Corporate Affairs Manager, Zanele Mphuthi hoped that this vaccination drive will help accelerate the inoculation of their staff.
She said the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the production and sales especially when they had to halt operations due to lockdown restrictions.
She further appealed to the public to come out in numbers to ensure that the vaccination drive is a success.
The province is racing to vaccinate 10 million people by December. In this regard it has partnered with civil society, faith-based organisations, media, the taxi industry and businesses have taken steps to make it easier for people to access vaccination wherever they are.
Gauteng MEC for Health Nomathemba Mokgethi hoped that the partnerships with industries would help attract the male population who have been hesitant to take the jab.
With the threat of the fourth wave, Mokgethi said government has received more Johnson and Johnson vaccines which is the most preferred vaccine as many young and old want to get a single jab.
"There is absolutely no doubt that vaccines save lives. We can now clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the vaccines and how they can reduce your risk of ending up in hospital with severe Covid-19 or of dying from Covid-19."
