The Gauteng Provincial Government provides land to those not qualifying for RDP houses, responding to their housing needs.

Speaking during the State of the Province on Monday, 24 February 2025, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi stated that the Ikagaleng Rapid Land Release Programme is geared towards addressing the gap in income groups that do not qualify for the complete subsidy programme and do not earn enough to qualify for home loans but are willing to build houses for themselves.

He said the programme was a housing solution for security guards, petrol attendants, clerks, and shop tellers.

The Premier said that the Gauteng Provincial Government sourced land, installed services such as electricity, sewer, and water, and built roads. It will hand the stands over to qualifying beneficiaries, who will build their homes according to their financial means.

The Ikageleng Rapid Land Release programme provides serviced stands to beneficiaries who earn between R3 501 and R7 000.

"The inclusion of these income groups through this programme supports other existing human settlement subsidies, thereby promoting the integration of different income groups and social inclusion," said Lesufi.

The Premier said the serviced stands' spatial location plays a vital role in creating sustainable human settlements, as they are near social amenities, areas of employment, and economic opportunities.
