Travelling long distance for medical attention is now a thing of the past for the people of Fochville and neighbouring townships, who welcomed the official opening of Greenspark Clinic, Merafong City Local Municipality, yesterday.
Formally unveiled by Gauteng Premier David Makhura together with Health MEC Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi alongside her Department of Infrastructure Development (DID) MEC Tasneem Motara, the state of the art facility is aimed at appeasing the community's seven year frustration after their initial clinic was torched during protests in 2014.   
Delivering the keynote address at the ceremony, Premier Makhura said: 'The community of Greenspark fought for this clinic and we had to deliver.'' 
''Today, I am proud that eventually we are able to hand over this beautiful clinic and I wish to plead with you, as the community, to please take good care of it.  This is your clinic, it does not belong to the government." 
He further asserted that the building of new clinics, upgrading existing health care facilities, provision of personnel, equipment, medicine and transport were all part of Gauteng Provincial Government's objective to improving health service delivery in the province. 

MEC for Health Dr Nothemba Mokgethi said the clinic will operate five days a week complete with a full staff complement that will serve the community.

According to Department of Infrastructure Development MEC Motara the construction for the innovative facility is around R80 million.  The structure includes: an administration block, consulting rooms, counselling rooms, intervention rehydration room, daybeds, allied services, an ambulance station shelter amongst plenty other pioneering innovations.
