The Hanyani Wellness and Fitness programme continues to promote physical wellbeing of the people of Gauteng.

Launched in 2020, Hanyani programme, which is a xiTsonga word for live-long- has been initiated to inculcate the culture of healthy physical lifestyle among the people of Gauteng.

It infuses different elements of physical exercise including yoga, aerobics, walking and jogging with the aim of reducing the burden on health services in the province.

On Sunday, Gauteng Department Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC Mbali Hlophe working with various artists took programme to Altitude Beach in Fourways to encourage the public to vaccinate.

As part of the vaccine rollout programme, Hanyani has been targeting entertainment hotspots and public places, to promote to encourage the public to get vaccinated.

"Working with artists and the entire creative industry sector, we want to encourage the fans and friends of the sector to get vaccinated. We now know that vaccines protect against severe illness, hospitalisation and death in the event one contracts the coronavirus." said Hlophe.

Activities on the day began with a walk, which was followed by a session of aerobics and demonstrations in kickboxing and yoga.

A pop-up and drive-through vaccination sites were setup at the venue and at Fourways Taxi Rank for people to get vaccinated.

"It is important for our communities especially senior citizens to remain active in order to boost their immune systems, this is the only way we can beat diseases like COVID-19 and save lives in Gauteng," said the MEC.
