Premier David Makhura said he is looking forward to the completion of all cases being investigated by the SIU regarding the unlawful procurement of the COVID-19
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 
The remarks follow Monday's Special Tribunal judgement on the third-party claims against Makhura in his official and personal capacity brought by the former chief financial officer for the Gauteng Department of Health, Kabelo Lehloenya.
Lehloenya resigned as the CFO when the allegations of irregular tender of the PPEs' surfaced.
In a judgment sent to the parties electronically, Judge Lebogang Modiba ruled against Lehloenya in her attempt to have Makhura joined in the civil recovery proceedings before the tribunal. 
Modiba dismissed the case with costs saying Lehloenya failed to establish a proper legal basis against the GPG and Premier Makhura as its executive head in terms of vicarious liability or unjustified enrichment or restitution.
Responding to the judgement, Makhura said from the onset "we saw the third party application as yet another diversionary tactic. 
"We will not be deterred from working with the SIU and other state agencies to tackle corruption and ensure that all public funds lost through unlawful procurement practices and irregular contracts are recovered." 
In previous court hearings, the SIU indicated that it intended to recover the money from Lehloenya's pension fund.
