Human Settlements MEC Lebogang Maile says the Gauteng Provincial Government is working with the City of Tshwane to provide support to the Pretoria West family whose members died in a house fire.
Five family members were killed in a house fire in the early hours of Wednesday.
Two family members, a mother aged 45 years and a child aged three years escaped a house fire with minor injuries as five family members perished in the blaze.
Among the five who died was a 41-year- helper, along with the six-year-old and three men aged 18, 22 and 24.
"The City of Tshwane will make sure that the mother and child who survived the horrific tragedy get assistance with funeral arrangements for the four children and the helper," said Maile adding that government will also provide temporal accommodation and psychological help while working on a permanent solution.
The MEC further urged the Pretoria West community not to make speculations around what instigated the fire.
Maile said details about what ignited the fire were unclear and police are still investigating.
"We would want to urge everyone not to speculate on what has happened, all we know for sure is that this is a tragedy. It is very sad, and heart-breaking.
"We came here to convey our heartfelt condolences to both families of the helper and the siblings who passed on," said Maile who visited the grieving family.
Family Spokesperson, Kwena Dladla said the mom was still in shock.
"She is emotionally not fine. She said she overheard people talking on the corridors that his boys perished in the fire."
According to Tshwane Emergency Services, a call to respond to the fire was received at around 01:30.
On arrival, bystanders informed firefighters that five people were still trapped inside the house.
