Businessman, Nkoane Godfrey Mokabane, Director of Lonerock (Pty) Ltd, has vowed to work closely with the community, councillors, and business forums to deliver the K73 (Allandale Road) construction project in Waterfall Midrand, on time.
Mokabane was speaking during the official launch of the Road K73 (Allandale Road) construction project in Midrand.
Lonerock construction has been contracted by the Department of Roads, Transport, and infrastructure to deliver the R315 million project, located between Kyalami Racetrack to the west, Mall of Africa to the east and Waterfall Estate to the south and Vorna Valley to the North.
The Multimillion-Rand project which will attract more than four billion worth of development projects in the area has already commenced with construction sitting at 8% and expected to end in August 2023.
More than 250 people have been employed and 30% Small Micro Medium Enterprise (SMME) and 10% local business got the opportunity to be part of the project.
The company has exceeded the target set by government when it comes to black business and women empowerment.
Earlier this week, Gauteng MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure, Jacob Mamabolo ensured the public that transport infrastructure projects in the province will be delivered on time, cost effectively and with good quality.
The department further introduced the Digital Turnaround of Transport Infrastructure which includes the daily reporting tool, Project Management Dashboard as well as the Transport Infrastructure Compliance Office, which will help the department to track progress of all projects in the province.
The department has also appointed the Malatjie Attorneys & Co in a three-year contract to serve as the compliance office, this is to enforce compliance in terms of meeting deadlines set and adhering to all legislation in the delivery of projects.
During his State of the Province Address in February, Premier David Makhura said infrastructure investment remained a key catalyst for the growth of the economy.
"Our investments in infrastructure will result in the creation of efficiencies in the economy and stimulate economic growth and job creation, "said
Mamabolo appealed to motorists to be patient, tolerant and careful as the rehabilitation work will result in traffic delays and inconvenience to motorists travelling along this route.
