40-year-old, Victor Seshoka, Community Development Practitioner at the Gauteng Department of Social Development, Tshwane Region has been nominated to Top 7 Devoted Citizen of the year awards, where he was competing with the likes of Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize and Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.
Seshoka won the 2019 Influential Men of the Year Awards that was held in Durban. He is married with three children. He is passionate as Community Development Practitioner, Researcher, Author, Life Coach, inspirational speaker and a Philanthropist. Seshoka has published five books and intends to release four more books.
He is also the founder of Kgalalelo Education Foundation which focuses on underprivileged learners mostly from rural areas. Through the foundation which I founded in 2012 I have managed to reach over 20 000 learners. The foundation host yearly career development to expose pupils from various villages to study opportunities. They also have various programs such as back to school campaigns where they donate school shoes, bags and uniforms to the disadvantaged learners.
As a result of his philanthropic work Seshoka was nominated for the Top 7 Devoted Citizen of the year Awards. Subsequent to being nominated as a Devoted Citizen he was later invited for an interview on ECNA News Channel for being inspiration to the nation especially to men.
Describing year 2020 Seshoka said "it was like any other year except the fact that Covid-19 has disrupted our normal lives and has forced us to adapt to different living".
"It has disrupted some major businesses, careers and life in general but however amid all this I have managed to complete my Masters of Philosophy in Business Leadership and Management Cum Laude with focus on NPO Monitoring systems."
"I was also nominated as Devoted Citizen of the year whereby I made it to the top 7 nationally alongside Dr Zweli Mkhize and Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng. It was on the highlight in 2020 that also see me being interviewed on ENCA News channel," says Seshoka
His motivation to his colleagues is "Don't wait until you are rich to change lives, start where you are to put a smile on someone's face, Motho ke motho ka batho".
In five years Seshoka has a dream of establishing a university for the learners who are coming from disadvantaged backgrounds as well as building at least five libraries in the villages that they work and planning to establish his own bursary fund.
