A 34-year-old Nomusa Masemola who is a Child and Youth Care Worker at Walter Sisulu Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC) in Noordgesig who enjoys her work tremendously.

Masemola acquired a Diploma in Youth Development with the University of South Africa and already worked for private institutions where she got her experience before joining the public sector last year.

A mother of two children, says she enjoys working with children and making sure that bringing a smile on their faces daily is one of her priorities. As an enthusiastic Care Workers said she’s going to continue with her studies in Psychology as she aims to become a professional Therapist.

Masemola rotates every three months to different units in the center where they are responsible in taking care of babies, toddlers, teenagers, and youth, however, Masemola prefers working with youth because she’s able to implement hygiene programmes and evaluate them.

“My daily routine entails looking after babies, feed, and bathing them, making sure that those attending school are neat and have breakfast, check their homework, and assist them. I have the ability to communicate clearly, dealing with their behavior, working with them to facilitate their personal, social, and educational development. I am committed to my work, and I have patience also, “she says.

Masemola says she has a good working relationship with other Care Workers because at the end of the day they need to serve children. “When I’m facing pressure at work, I’m able to act with integrity and establish good relationship with everyone around me, although it’s not easy but if you love what you do, it becomes easy to come up with the solution, “concludes Masemola.
