Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi will, together with MEC for Transport and Logistics Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, launch the 2023 October Transport Month (OTM) campaign on Monday, 02 October 2023.
This will be in partnership with Smarter Mobility Africa (SMA). The event is used to outline the 2023 OTM Campaign programme and plans for the transport sector across the province.
It is held under the theme "Siyakha - Growing Gauteng Together through Smart Mobility".
OTM is a key annual programme aimed at promoting the use of integrated public transport systems in the province.
Amongst the activities of the campaign include the launch of the Provincial Transport Management Centre, the unveiling of the new Number Plate Prototype, the launch of Smart Licensing Centres in townships and the road safety programme.
The campaign forms part of the provincial government's commitment to accelerated delivery of transport infrastructure to support Gauteng's economic recovery and growth.
As part of the launch, the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Paul Mashatile will deliver a keynote address at the SMA Conference Gala Dinner scheduled for later in the day.
The Deputy President will be joined by the Premier, MEC and senior government officials.
