"All elderly people who haven't registered must register to get vaccinated for COVID-19, they won't regret it," this is according to Cynthia Malopyane, 77, from Fleurhof in Roodepoort.
Malopyane said she has not experienced any side effects or symptoms since getting vaccinated on 18 May 2021.
Though, Malopyane was warned she might experience a mild headache and dizziness, but she has not experienced any side effects.
"Malopyane said she would like to urge other elderly people who have not registered for vaccination to register.
"Since I got my vaccine, I have a peace of mind, it's unlike before, I can now feel that I'm somehow protected from the virus.
During the Command Council media briefing on Friday, Gauteng Premier, David Makhura urged all the elderly people to go and get vaccinated.
Makhura said no one who is 60 years and older who will be turned away from the vaccination site even if they are not registered.
Currently Gauteng province has 103 vaccination sites with 63 in the public sector and 40 private sector sites.
People who are 60 years and older can register on the Electronic Vaccine Data System (EVDS) https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za/#/ or on WhatsApp by sending "REGISTER" to 0600123456, or you can register by SMS by dialling *134*832*your ID number#. The services are zero rated and so you do not need data or airtime and you do not need a smartphone to be able to register by SMS.
