The City of Ekurhuleni has partnered with Ekurhuleni Faith-Based Organisations (FBO) and the Ekurhuleni COVID-19 Food Bank to provide targeted emergency relief to families that have lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This partnership reaffirms the City's commitment to ensure that citizens of Ekurhuleni who can no longer afford to buy food do not suffer from hunger due to the global pandemic.

"FBO's are the nucleus r of our communities, they provide us with hope, shelter  in times of need. This crisis has shown that it is now more important than ever for the City to work with its social partners to ensure the protection and livelihood of our communities.

"I want to thank our local FBO's for partnering with us to ensure that all citizens can get a decent meal during this nation-wide lockdown period," said Executive Mayor, Mzwandile Masina.

The FBO will deliver food parcels directly to households, no one should visit or queue outside a church. Individuals who seek assistance are requested to call their local churches.

Ekurhuleni FBO formation is chaired and represented by Pastor Xola Nzo from the Change Bible Church, in Katlehong.

Furthermore, the City's Department of Health and Social Development will continue to make deliveries of food parcels to families identified by Ward Councillors.
