Gauteng Premier, David Makhura has sent his best wishes to all matriculants who will be sitting for their final exams which commence on Thursday 5 November 2020.
"The Class of 2020 has had to deal with the added pressure of COVID-19 over and above the stress that comes from being in matric. You have had to adapt to a new way of learning under conditions of social distancing," said Premier Makhura.
He added that the educators had an equally challenging year, as they too had to adapt to new ways of teaching, and interacting with learners.
"Despite all the challenges that you have had to endure this year, we commend you as the Class of 2020 for your resilience and determination to see the final school year to the end.
Premier Makhura, appealed to parents and guardians of learners to continue providing support to the learners by creating a conducive environment for learning.
A total of 235975 learners will sit for the National Senior Certificate exams in Gauteng- the largest number in the country.
The exams will be written across 1866 centres, and will 13789 trained invigilators will oversee the exams.
